Paragon Bioservices Founder Marco Chacon Appointed by Governor Hogan to Maryland Life Sciences Advisory Board

Paragon Bioservices, a global leader in the manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals and vaccines, announced today the appointment of Paragon Founder and Chairman, Dr. Marco Chacon, by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to the Maryland Life Sciences Advisory Board.

As described in an announcement from the Maryland Department of Commerce in January, The Life Sciences Advisory Board was created by the state legislature in 2007 to assist in maintaining Maryland’s position as a leader in the life sciences industry. Comprised of 18 members, the Board includes the Secretary of Commerce, a representative designated by the Maryland Technology Development Corporation and 16 members appointed by the Governor, including Dr. Chacon. These new appointees include a patient advocate, executives from global life sciences companies with U.S. headquarters in Maryland, small biotechnology companies, and leaders from the University of Maryland, University of Maryland Baltimore, Johns Hopkin University, Montgomery College, NIH, FDA and the U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command.

“I am honored to have been appointed for this important advisory role,” said Dr Chacon. “Paragon Bioservices has been a part of the Maryland life sciences community for over twenty-five years. I hope that some of the observations and wisdom from those years of experience will be helpful in collaborating with my advisory board colleagues to keep Maryland at the leading edge of science and continuing to generate opportunities to grow our life sciences economy.”
